Dbox - Tray Application for tuning motion parameters

Hi Folks,

I’ve a friend who is developing (with some information supplied by d-box tech) a small standalone app which can sit in the tray and either use hotkeys or a sim button box/wheel etc to adjust various parameters of the motion simulation (much the same way as swapping out of app, loading Game Center, and amending sim parameters and then saving them.

Changes it makes are similarly permanent to the particular sim you are driving, in the same way amending d-box simulation parameters is.

It’s a much more friendly way to adjust various parameters ā€˜as you drive’ and feel the impact of the changes immediately. OF course, D-Box apps are unaffected and still available as per usual.

Our intention is to cover all the current sims in Game Centre, but focus on the track racing ones to start with.

Our proof of concept is up and running, and now a framework for all the sims is underway.

Interested to hear any views & opinions.

Would be nice to change the parameters without switching out of the game. Any intentions of also creating an app (iOS/Android) that can interact with this as well? Sounds like this will be a hit either way with D-Box sim racers!

I have two rigs, one dbox and the other sigma. Sigma has this feature via a mobile app, and it would be great if my dbox rig had that too!

Hi Colin, sounds really interesting. Will you make it available via github?

Hi - my friend has now completed his app - lots of ideas for the future, but its working superbly.

It’s called MotionTray and you can grab a demo and test it at www.motiontray.com

I’ve allocated a page of buttons on my streamdeck and its amazing to adjust individual parameters as I drive, and feel the change instantly !

You can choose input devices as you like - wheel buttons, keyboard, streamdeck, or a mobile interface on a phone or tablet.

I cannot recommend it enough - I try and load it every time I jump in a sim. It runs out of the way in the tray and is exactly what I hoped it would be !

Give it a try !

I probably won’t try this since it is subscription based, without option for one time pay. Looks/sounds great though!

I suppose that’s fair enough, although compared to the cost of a d-box setup, it’s small change !

Pretty sure if you’re not interested in an ongoing thing, then a 1yr would be enough to tune every car and every sim you use :slightly_smiling_face:

Often wonder when I hear folks not wanting to spend on sim titles, or DLC … ’ compared to the cost of your hardware…?’

For me, it is definitely an ongoing subscription model vs a purchase model, not a price thing. As for 1yr being enough to tune ever car and every sim, well, probably its true, but most likely knowing myself, I’ll just have that re-occurring subscription on for the rest of my life :stuck_out_tongue:

Why not try the free edition ?

He keeps enabling more options so it’s probably worth a look.

SRS for instance (in the PT-Actuator world), for comparision, charges 20$ a year for just mobile access to the tuning app whilst driving.

I bought a 1 year, to see if it was as good as I hoped.

Hello mate!
First i would like to confirm the software is really cool, worth the money i just managed it thru Stream deck + some special Pcs for motion, looks good+intuitive thx to pcs
at the same time i have it ON on my Ipad to know exactly %%% of my adjusting!!!

Still i have a question to tou as i see you are active here on forum!

maybe you know in Iracing

ABS-vibro seems not to work

did you know somethink about this ?!

Hi there. Glad it’s helping you as well.

Be sure to keep the app updated cos new features and requests are often added.

New version might address the engine vibrations - update your app and try it…

Anyone from D-Box care to add a comment about the motion profile ?

Col.

Just a further update - the author of Motion Tray has now completely removed the subscription for it - so it’s a free trial then if you want to keep using it, it’s a one time 20$ now - deffo if you’ve a D-Box setup give it a try - if, like me you are constantly tweaking the feeling of various cars in various sims but especially iRacing, then you might find it’s a brilliant upgrade from switch out change and switch back to adjust motion.

Full marks from me! (but I did want the features similar to PT-A and thanos kit driven by SRS !)
